Porthole Perspective

When i was on voyage with a ship, what I love the most is the beautiful view of the sea and sky above.

However, the voyage won't be always fun and joy. The wind is unforgiving. The blaze of the sun will pierce your skin. Or sometime, it rains heavily and you wouldn't like the prospect of getting wet by the rain while you are on the ship, right? The wave's getting rough sometimes. And with each ups and downs along the wave, so does our gut and its contents. Fortunately, I rarely got seasickness.

To escape the uneasiness during the voyage, i would lie down on my bed, in line with the ship's heading.
But inside my room, i couldn't really enjoy what I like the most from the voyage: the ocean view.
There's porthole near my bunk bed, but of course, the view is limited. You really need to go outside, to get the whole view and atmosphere of the ocean. You gotta feel it from the starboard side and the portside. From the bow and the astern. Climbing the mast if necessery.
You can't measure the vastness of the ocean from the porthole; the porthole view just won't do such.

And the limited view of the porthole made me realized, that sometime (or even most of the time), we used our limited view on things much broader than what we know.

For example, judging a neighbour from a fraction of time we met them, not knowing what kind of struggle he/she have to face everyday.
Commenting on things we have no expertise nor experience on.
Blaming the acts of God, not knowing there's a greater plan lies ahead for us; a better one than what we wanted.

"... but perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not." (Quran surah Baqarah verse 216)

Well, i'm not gonna say that i'm the wisest man here. But just think of it; how many times we view the world with a 'porthole perspective', downright  refusing a view different with ours?

Maybe, sometime we should go outside and 'take a tour around' our imaginary ship, to get another view of some thing we face?
Maybe, we could get a better, broader view of those things.
Just don't forget to watch out for the weather and the waves ;)
