New Year New Resolution for Our Not-new Planet
I never understand the meaning of celebrating new year with tons of explosives polluting the sky, ear-torturing trumpet and gallons of unhealthy drinks, only to live as lame as before. For some people, that's joy. For me? That's nonsense.
New year has nothing to do with celebration. That's just our rocky planet finishing one round of its eternal race against time around its sun.
A new beginning of a certain unit of time.
Just the same as every morning, a start of a brand new day.
Or every time our moon repeat its monthly cycle.
Nothing special to be proud of, unless we are battling life-threatening diseae, or surviving a catastrophic event, or finding a reasonably close habitable planet to move on, there's nothing to be celebrated over a new calendar year.
I mean, if we really need to celebrate, celebrate an achievement.
Like finishing a new and challenging task.
Accepted at a new (and better) workplace.
Acquiring new business.
Mastering new skill.
Learning new language.
Cooked new menu successfully.
Achieve your body goal.
And we can also celebrate anything without further littering our (already dying) environtment.
A romantic dinner with special someone.
Sharing with less fortunate ones.
Or spending our own me time.
But at the end of the day, well, who am i to judge.
We cannot really force people to do or not to do something, can we?
Well, it's just 20 days into 2023, so it's not late yet to make a resolution, right?
I just hope that whoever stumble upon this late night digital scribble of mine, remember that we are going to take responsibility for every single action done to our planet collectively, as a human race. I hope that this random babble could inspire my dear reader to make (and really execute) a more eco-friendly new year resolution.
So just continue to do good thing for the better future of our dying planet, for every single rotation of our planet, for every single revolution around our sun, if we continue to live as it is (like polluting our air, sea, and land; decimating biomasses everywhere; greedily extracting natural resources) , the closer we gets to the irrepairable global environmental catastrophe.
For as far as i know, this planet is our only home, isn't it?
